The Many Languages of Comparative Literature is the subject of the 21st World Congress of the International Comparative Literature Association (ICLA) which takes place at the university of Vienna from the 21st to the 27th of July 2016.
The lectures and sessions show the diversity of Comparative Literature. Not only are there (too) many languages to know, speak and read, they also play a vital role in questions of identity, cultural transfer or migration policy.
More than 1500 speakers are confirmed.Key note speakers are Marina Warner (GB), Joep Leerssen (NL) Emily Apter and David Damrosch (USA).
Literary highlights will be the readings of Nobel Prize winner Herta Müller and Austrian writer Christoph Ransmayr.
