Natural rivers carry not only water, but also sediments - such as gravel, sand, and wood- from mountains to the sea. They sculpt the landscape, sustaining biodiversity and human well-being, as they provide many useful services: they keep the water clean, mitigate floods, sustain flora and fauna, create beaches along the coast and many others. When this dynamics of water and sediments is disrupted by human interventions, we risk to lose many of these useful services. HyMoCARES tries to show how relevant is all this for our well-being and to provide tools to manage water and sediments in rivers wisely, so that these services are not lost.
