Student Cuts

STUDENT CUTS is an international film festival that encourages and promotes the new generation of filmmakers and the most creative of all film formats – the short film. The festival is centered around short films by young filmmakers with uncompromising originality, fresh ideas and global themes. Let your cuts be seen around the world!

THE SIXTH EDITION of Student Cuts festival will take place on May 31st & 1st June 2017 in Maribor, Slovenia. The program will combine international film competition, professional events and various side events.

Student Cuts will give out awards for best films in fiction, documentary, animation, experimental and advertising categories, as well as the coveted audience choice award. There are also two special awards: Best film by Media Communications students and audience choice for best film by Media Communications students.

Basic submission requirements:
- Film duration under 15min
- Film must be an independent student production without assistance of professional film producers
- Only films produced between January 1st 2014 and April 1st 2016 are eligible for submission
- Films already submitted to previous festival editions cannot compete again
